Parque Nacional Los Glaciares Camping Río Eléctrico
Camping Río Eléctrico sits in a wind-scoured valley at 1,200 meters elevation, surrounded by lenga forest with the Fitz Roy massif dominating the western horizon. This basic Parques Nacionales campground offers 30 unmarked sites along the braided Río Eléctrico. Facilities are minimal: pit toilets and a single mountain spring tap that runs clear glacier melt. Fire rings exist but wood gathering is prohibited — bring a camp stove. The Laguna de los Tres trailhead starts directly from camp.
Access requires driving the final 8 kilometers of rough gravel RP23 — doable in any vehicle but expect washboard and stream crossings after heavy rain. The campground operates November through March only due to Patagonian winter closures. No reservations, first-come basis, but rarely fills except during Christmas holidays. Winds can hit 60+ km/h — guy out everything twice.
