Camping Lago Roca
Lago Roca’s campground offers some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in Patagonia, with Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy visible across the glacial lake. Fifteen spacious sites scattered through old-growth lenga forest, each with fire rings and picnic tables. The lake provides drinking water after boiling, and pit toilets are clean and well-maintained.
Access requires 12 kilometers of rough dirt track from El Chaltén — 4WD recommended in wet conditions. Sites fill quickly December through February; arrive early or camp elsewhere first. Wind can be ferocious; bring guy ropes and heavy stakes. No cell service, no trash collection — pack it out.
