Mirador Cerro Torre
This roadside viewpoint delivers postcard shots of Cerro Torre’s infamous granite spire, often shrouded in lenticular clouds that make it one of the world’s most challenging climbs. The overlook sits about 15km from El Chaltén on a decent gravel road, with space for a dozen vehicles and a simple trail down to Laguna Torre for closer views.
Early morning light (7-9 AM) offers the clearest shots before afternoon winds kick up the clouds. The access road can get washboarded but remains passable for any vehicle. No facilities here — just raw Patagonian granite and wind. Pack layers; conditions change fast in the Fitz Roy massif.
