Parque Nacional Nevado de Toluca Dispersed Camping
Scattered camping spots around the access road to Laguna del Sol and Laguna de la Luna, Mexico’s highest accessible crater lakes. Cold nights year-round at this elevation – bring warm gear even in summer. Fire restrictions usually in effect, and weather changes fast. Views across the volcanic crater are worth the thin air and rocky camping.
4WD recommended for the final push to the lakes, though high-clearance 2WD can make it to lower camping areas. Often foggy in afternoons. Best accessed from Toluca via the winding mountain road – allow extra time for the climb.
