Mount Pleasant National Scenic Area Dispersed Camping
Multiple unofficial camping spots along dirt roads within Mount Pleasant National Scenic Area. Mostly level pull-offs in mixed hardwood forest with seasonal ridge views through the trees. No facilities — pack it in, pack it out. Fire rings present at some spots but bring your own firewood. Popular with locals but rarely crowded except hunting season.
Access via gravel forest roads off Route 56. Roads can be rough after heavy rain but passable for most 2WD vehicles when dry. 14-day stay limit. Best spring through fall — winter access can be sketchy. No water sources nearby so come prepared.
