Mississippi Palisades State Park Campground
Perched on 200-foot limestone bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, this 110-site campground offers some of the best river valley views in Illinois. Sites range from basic tent spots to full hookup RV sites, with several walk-in spots right on the bluff edge. The park’s 15 miles of hiking trails wind through oak-hickory forest and along dramatic cliff faces. Spring wildflowers and fall colors draw the biggest crowds.
Access is via winding park roads that climb steadily from the river bottom. Some sites accommodate larger RVs, but the bluff-edge spots are best suited for smaller rigs. Reservations recommended for weekends and peak season. Winter camping available but with limited services.
