Mammoth Cave National Park Green River Dispersed Sites
Several informal camping spots exist along the old access roads leading to Green River boat launches, mostly on higher ground back from the water. Sites are basic — just flat spots with occasional fire rings — but the setting is solid with mature hardwoods and decent privacy between rigs. Capacity is limited to maybe 4-5 vehicles total, and the area sees regular use from canoe groups during peak season.
Access requires navigating a maze of gravel park service roads that can get confusing without GPS. River levels affect some lower sites during spring runoff. Fire restrictions may apply during dry spells, and all the usual Leave No Trace principles are critical here given the sensitive river corridor environment.
