Lone Rock Beach — Lake Powell Primitive Beach Camping
Lone Rock Beach sits on the Utah side of Lake Powell inside Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It’s a wide sandy shoreline where you camp wherever you find room, with no marked sites and no hookups. The sandstone butte rising from the water gives the place its name and makes for a great sunrise. It fills up fast on spring and summer weekends, and there’s a lot of boat and ATV traffic. A vault toilet is typically available. Bring your own water and pack out everything you bring in.
Access is a short paved road off US-89 to the beach, and then you’re on sand. Plenty of rigs sink here, so air down and stay on firmer, packed areas, especially with heavy trailers. Lake level changes where the shoreline sits, so campsites shift year to year. NPS charges a per-vehicle camping fee, and stay limits and regulations are enforced. Verify current rates, fire rules and beach conditions with Glen Canyon NRA before you go. Have a dirty day.
