Loch Lomond — Cashel Forest Campsite and Loch Shore Staging
Cashel sits on the quieter eastern shore of Loch Lomond, tucked into mixed woodland managed by Forestry and Land Scotland. It’s a proper campsite with pitches spread through the trees, direct access to the loch edge, and a vibe that’s noticeably calmer than the tourist circus on the western bank. Good base for runs up the Rob Roy Way or staging before heading north into the Trossachs. Busy in July and August — book ahead or you’re turned away.
Access is off the B837 from Drymen — paved all the way, suitable for any vehicle. The Cashel campsite is well signposted. Open seasonally, typically Easter through October. Campfires are restricted to designated fire pits only — Scottish Forestry rules, no exceptions on the loch shoreline.
Eastern shore calm on Scotland's biggest loch.
