Laguna de Bacalar Camping Maya
Family-run campground on the eastern shore of Laguna de Bacalar, offering both RV sites with hookups and tent camping areas directly on the water. The lagoon’s famous blue gradients are spectacular at sunrise. Basic facilities include clean bathrooms, showers, and a small restaurant serving fresh fish. Kayaks and paddleboards available for rent. Sites are mostly level with some shade from palm trees.
Access via Highway 307, then west on paved road for 2km. Can accommodate rigs up to about 35 feet, though maneuvering space is tight. Reserve ahead during high season (December-March). Swimming is excellent, but be aware of occasional crocodile sightings in remote areas of the lagoon. Mosquitoes can be intense at dawn and dusk — bring nets and repellent.
