Inyo National Forest Horton Creek Dispersed Sites
Horton Creek offers a string of dispersed sites along the creek bottom about 8 miles northwest of Bishop. Most sites sit in cottonwood groves with creek access and views toward the Sierra escarpment. Popular with climbers heading to the Buttermilks and overlanders exploring the Eastern Sierra. Sites fill quickly on Friday evenings during climbing season.
Turn west from US 395 onto Horton Creek Road about 5 miles north of Bishop. The first 3 miles are paved, then good dirt road for another 5 miles to the camping area. Creek runs year-round but can be low by late summer. Some sites have established fire rings.
