Hearts Content Campground
This 26-site campground in the Allegheny National Forest sits directly beside the Hearts Content Scenic Area, home to some of Pennsylvania’s last remaining old-growth forest. Sites are spacious and well-separated under a canopy of massive eastern hemlocks, some over 300 years old. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and hand-pump water available. The old-growth trail begins at the campground entrance.
Access is via Forest Road 2002, a maintained gravel road off PA Route 6 near Sheffield. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and rarely fills except during peak fall foliage season. Open May through October, though sites may be accessible earlier in mild springs.
