Heart River Valley Dispersed Area
Several informal sites spread across gentle hills overlooking the Heart River valley. Most spots offer partial shade from scattered oak and ash groves, with room for larger groups to spread out. The area feels truly remote — excellent dark skies for stargazing and complete silence except for coyotes. Established fire rings at 4-5 main sites. Water available from the river but needs filtering. Hunting pressure in fall but otherwise peaceful.
Access via county road then 2 miles of grassy two-track that can be rough when wet. No facilities and zero cell service. Stock up in Glen Ullin before heading out. Best spring through fall when the roads are passable. Can get hot and buggy in mid-summer.
