Twenty sites scattered along the shoreline of Upper Green River Lake, with Squaretop Mountain’s sheer granite wall rising 3,500 feet directly overhead. The setting is pure Wind River Range drama — crystalline water, towering peaks, and some of the best alpine scenery in Wyoming. Sites have tables and fire rings, vault toilets, but no water. Gets busy on summer weekends with backpackers heading into the Bridger Wilderness.
Access via 50 miles of decent gravel from Pinedale. Road can be rough in spring with snowmelt runoff. Open typically June through September depending on snow. No reservations — first come, first served. Popular staging point for the Highline Trail and Continental Divide Trail.
