Fremont Lake Campground

Massive glacial lake beneath the Wind River Range with a developed campground offering boat access and alpine views.

Fremont Lake stretches for seven miles beneath towering granite peaks, making it one of Wyoming’s most scenic alpine destinations. This Forest Service campground offers 54 sites along the shoreline, most accommodating RVs up to 32 feet. The lake sits at 7,400 feet elevation with crystal-clear water perfect for fishing cutthroat and lake trout, though it stays cold even in summer. Sites fill quickly during peak season, especially weekends.

Access via paved Fremont Lake Road, though the campground road itself is gravel. Open typically late May through September depending on snowpack. No hookups but vault toilets and potable water available. Strong afternoon winds are common — secure your gear and consider the protected sites on the north shore.
