George Washington National Forest Dry River Dispersed Area
A handful of pull-off sites along Forest Service Road 62 where Dry River winds through hardwood forest. Most sites accommodate one or two rigs with established fire rings and level ground. Popular with anglers chasing native brook trout, but quiet midweek. No facilities — pack out everything. Forest Service allows 14-day stays with campfires permitted in rings when not under restrictions.
Access via gravel FS Road 62 off Route 33 near Harrisonburg — suitable for any vehicle in dry conditions but gets slick when wet. Sites fill on summer weekends but plenty of space most other times. No cell service once you’re down by the river.
