Gásadalur — Múlafossur Waterfall Village Viewpoint

Point of Interest

Gásadalur on Vágar was completely cut off from the rest of the island until a tunnel opened in 2004. The village has only a handful of residents. Múlafossur waterfall pours off the basalt plateau just above the village rooftops and free-falls into the Atlantic below — one of those scenes that looks fabricated but is entirely real. The viewpoint is a short walk from the small parking area at the village edge. Wind-driven spray can soak you fast when conditions are right.

Drive through the Gásadals tunnel from Bøur. The road through the tunnel is single-lane with passing places — take it slow. No formal campground here; overnight camping in the area requires landowner permission per Faroese custom. Day trip from Sørvágur or Bøur is the standard approach. Fog rolls in fast on Vágar, so clear days are earned.
