Galvans Gorge Creek Campground — Mount Barnett Station

Sitting on the creek flat adjacent to Galvans Gorge on Mount Barnett Station, this small campground is run by the station itself and is the logical overnight base for anyone wanting to walk into the gorge and swimming hole at first light before the tour buses roll in from the roadhouse. It’s a no-frills bush camp — think fire rings, a basic drop toilet, and the sound of creek frogs. Fees are collected at the Mount Barnett Roadhouse, roughly 7 km east on the Gibb. Capacity is tight; a handful of rigs fits comfortably on the creek flat.

Access is via a short signed track off the Gibb River Road, passable by most high-clearance 4WDs. The creek can flow after big wet-season rain, making access impassable December through March. Best visited April to October. No drinking water on-site — tank up at the roadhouse before you pull in.
