French Creek State Park
This massive park stretches across Berks and Chester counties with dense hardwood forests, meadows, and over 35 miles of trails. The main campground offers 201 sites split between wooded and open areas, with modern restrooms and hot showers. Popular with families but spacious enough that you’ll find quiet spots, especially on weekdays. Fire restrictions apply during dry spells.
Access is straightforward via PA Route 345. The park connects to Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, making it a solid base camp for exploring both Revolutionary War history and backcountry trails. Open year-round, but some facilities close November through March.
