French Creek State Park Hopewell Furnace Trailhead
This main trailhead sits at the heart of French Creek’s extensive trail system, offering access to everything from easy nature walks to challenging backcountry loops. The parking area accommodates about 20 vehicles and connects directly to the Lenape Trail, which winds through old-growth forest and past remnants of the colonial iron industry. Trail maps are available at the kiosk, though cell service is spotty once you head into the deeper woods.
The trailhead is open year-round but gets busy on fall weekends when the leaves turn. Winter access is reliable since it’s plowed, but trails can be icy. No water or facilities at this specific trailhead — those are back at the main park office about 2 miles south on Park Road.
