This rainbow-colored geothermal geyser sits on private Fly Ranch, created accidentally in 1964 during well drilling. The mineral-stained cone continuously spouts scalding water and steam, surrounded by terraced pools and alien-looking mineral formations in brilliant greens, reds, and yellows. Tours are available through advance reservation only, making this one of Nevada’s most exclusive natural wonders.
Access requires booking through the Burning Man Project, which now owns the ranch. Tours run year-round but fill up months ahead. The drive from the Black Rock Desert playa involves rough ranch roads, and visitors must stay with guides at all times.
