Scattered camping sites along the base of California’s tallest sand dunes in remote Eureka Valley. The 680-foot singing dunes create an otherworldly backdrop while Last Chance Mountains frame the valley. Sites are spread along the valley floor with minimal vegetation — bring shade and windbreaks. Fire restrictions often in effect. The area offers complete solitude with some of the darkest skies in the lower 48.
Access via rough dirt roads from either Big Pine or Death Valley. South Eureka Road is particularly challenging and requires 4WD. No water, no cell service, no facilities. Summer temperatures are lethal; stick to October through March.
