Esso Spences Bridge — Highway 1 Thompson Canyon Fuel
Spences Bridge is a blink-and-miss-it village on Highway 1 at the confluence of the Nicola and Thompson rivers, but for overlanders heading into the Botanie Valley, Stein Valley, or Skihist backcountry, the Esso here is a critical fuel pin. It’s a basic station — fuel, small convenience selection, no major grocery — but it’s the last confirmed pump before you turn off the pavement and start burning through a tank on FSR dust. Top off every time you pass through, no exceptions.
Hours can be limited — don’t count on late-night fuel. Cash and card accepted. The town also has a small general store nearby for snacks and basics. Cell signal is patchy in the canyon; confirm your route before you leave the pavement.
Last fuel before Stein or Botanie backcountry.
