Cuillin Ridge — Glen Brittle Memorial Hut Trailhead

Trailhead

Glen Brittle is where the tarmac runs out and the Black Cuillin begins. The BMC Memorial Hut and the campsite at the road end have been staging serious mountaineers and ridge traversers for decades. Even if you’re not scrambling Sgùrr Alasdair, the drive down the B8009 and then the unclassified glen road delivers views that stop most people cold — a wall of gabbro rising sheer out of the glen floor, nothing soft about it. The beach at the bottom is a legitimate reward and makes a good wild swim in summer.

Road is single-track all the way into the glen, mostly manageable in any high-clearance vehicle but passing places demand patience. Gets heavily used in summer — arrive early or late. The campsite is operated by the MacRae family and is cash-only. No bookings. Show up and find a pitch.
