Chicot State Park
This 6,400-acre park centers on Lake Chicot, offering 199 campsites split between improved sites with full hookups and primitive areas under towering bald cypress and live oaks. The campground fills up on weekends during spring and fall, but midweek offers plenty of solitude. Sites 140-199 in the North Campground sit closest to the water with better shade and privacy.
Access is straightforward via paved park roads, though some loops can get muddy after heavy rain. The park stays open year-round, but summer brings oppressive humidity and aggressive mosquitoes. Best visited October through April when temperatures drop and bugs retreat.
