Cascada de La Chorrera Trailhead
The trailhead sits at a basic parking area surrounded by potato fields and eucalyptus groves, where the Andean highlands meet the edge of the eastern cordillera. A small wooden kiosk marks the start of the 3.5-kilometer trail through cloud forest to La Chorrera’s base. The path descends steadily through dense vegetation where bromeliads cling to moss-covered trees and endemic frogs call from hidden streams. No facilities beyond the parking area — pack everything you need.
Access via paved road from Choachí, then 4 kilometers of improved dirt road suitable for any vehicle. Trail conditions vary with rainfall — expect mud and slippery rocks during wet season (April-November). Early morning starts avoid afternoon clouds and offer best waterfall views. Local guides sometimes wait at the trailhead but aren’t required for the well-marked route.
