Campo Archeque Dispersed Camping
A remote dispersed camping area tucked into a narrow canyon 45 minutes southwest of Creel, surrounded by towering pine trees and red rock walls. The site holds 6-8 rigs comfortably with established fire rings and flat spots carved from the canyon floor. A reliable spring flows year-round, creating pools perfect for washing up after dusty trail days. Ancient Tarahumara petroglyphs mark the canyon walls near the water source.
Access requires 4WD for the final 8 kilometers on a rocky arroyo bottom that becomes impassable during summer monsoons. The road forks multiple times—stay right at the major splits. No facilities, no trash service. Fire restrictions apply May through July. Local Rarámuri families still use this area seasonally, so camp respectfully and pack out everything.
