Barranca del Cobre Overlook Dispersed Camping
Scattered camping spots along the rim road east of Creel offer spectacular views into Copper Canyon and decent space for larger rigs. Most sites are level dirt with natural wind breaks from pine trees. No facilities but plenty of room to spread out — expect other overlanders staging here before canyon runs. Fire restrictions during dry season.
Access via well-maintained gravel road from Creel, about 45 minutes of easy driving. Elevation keeps nights cool even in summer. Watch for loose cattle and occasional logging trucks. Cell service spotty to none, but the views into the canyon system make up for it.
