Broken Bow Lake Spillway
This massive concrete spillway creates one of Oklahoma’s most impressive engineered landmarks, with water thundering down stepped channels when the lake is releasing. The tailwater below offers excellent trout fishing in the cold, clear discharge from the deep lake. Parking areas on both sides of the river provide access for fishing and photography, though the best views are from the dam’s visitor area.
Located just downstream from Broken Bow Dam off Highway 259A, it’s easily accessible from Beavers Bend State Park and makes for a quick but memorable stop while exploring the Mountain Fork River area. The spillway is most dramatic during spring releases, but the engineering and setting are impressive year-round.
