BLM Soda Mountain Dispersed Area
Windswept camping sites scattered across sagebrush flats at 4,100 feet elevation, with unobstructed views of Mount Shasta, Pilot Rock, and the Cascade Range. The area sits within the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, offering a mix of volcanic geology and diverse plant communities. Sites are primitive with user-created fire rings — bring your own firewood as pickings are slim in this high desert environment.
Access via BLM Road 39-2E-36, a rough but passable dirt road that can turn to gumbo in wet conditions. High clearance recommended, 4WD needed after storms. Popular staging area for PCT hikers and during hunting season. No shade, so summer camping can be brutal — spring and fall offer the best weather windows.
