BLM Antelope Wells Border Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

This desolate stretch near the Antelope Wells port of entry offers unlimited dispersed camping on BLM land in classic high desert terrain. Creosote bush and scattered yucca dot the rocky hardpan, with views stretching to the distant Peloncillo Mountains. Sites are self-selected along dirt tracks branching from the main access road, with room for dozens of rigs spread across several square miles. No facilities whatsoever — bring everything.

Access is via graded dirt roads passable by any vehicle in dry conditions. The area sees steady use from overlanders heading to or from Mexico, plus the occasional Border Patrol sweep. Summers are brutal hot; winter nights drop below freezing. No cell service and you’re 30 miles from the nearest fuel in Hachita.
