Beartooth Lake Campground — Shoshone National Forest
Beartooth Lake Campground is one of the most scenic developed sites on the entire Beartooth Highway run. You’re camped at the edge of a clear alpine lake with the Beartooth Plateau rising above you on all sides — raw granite, snowfields lingering into July, and the kind of silence that reminds you why you built the rig in the first place. The campground has around 21 sites, vault toilets, and fire rings. It fills fast on summer weekends, especially July through August. Bring your own water or filter from the lake.
Access is directly off US-212 — paved road all the way to the entrance. Season typically runs mid-June through mid-September depending on snowpack. At nearly 9,000 feet, nights are cold even in August. Cell signal is essentially nonexistent. Reservations available through Recreation.gov. Have a dirty day.
