Beartooth Falls

Multi-tiered waterfall cascading 100 feet through granite cliffs along the famous Beartooth Highway scenic route.

Beartooth Falls drops in multiple tiers through carved granite walls about 5 miles east of Beartooth Pass summit. The main drop is roughly 100 feet, with several smaller cascades above and below creating a dramatic display against the alpine backdrop. Short walk from Highway 212 leads to viewing areas at the base, though scrambling up the granite slabs offers better angles for photos.

Peak flow runs May through July as snowmelt feeds the falls. By late August, it’s often just a trickle. The Beartooth Highway closes completely October through May due to snow, making this a summer-only destination. Parking is limited to roadside pullouts that fill quickly on sunny weekends.
