Twenty-one sites scattered around a pristine alpine lake with the Beartooth Mountains reflecting off still water at first light. Sites are basic — picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets — but the setting is world-class. Expect afternoon thunderstorms in summer and temperatures that can drop below freezing any night of the year. Sites fill fast on weekends, and the season runs roughly mid-July through September depending on snow.
Access is directly off the Beartooth Highway with no additional driving required. The campground sits exposed to weather, so come prepared for wind and rapid temperature changes. Water is available from the lake but requires treatment. Cell service is nonexistent, making this a true escape from civilization.
