Ashley National Forest Sheep Creek Geological Loop Dispersed Sites
The Sheep Creek Geological Loop winds through incredible formations where red Uinta Mountain sandstone creates towering spires and twisted canyons. Dispersed sites are scattered along the loop road, offering everything from creek-side spots to high overlooks. Most sites have fire rings from previous campers but no other amenities. The area sees moderate use from geology enthusiasts and photographers seeking the dramatic rock formations.
Loop road is paved but narrow with steep grades and tight turns — not recommended for large rigs. Sites closest to the creek fill up fastest. Snow closes the upper elevation portions from November through April.
