Ashley National Forest Burnt Fork River Dispersed Sites
The Burnt Fork River corridor offers dispersed camping along a beautiful mountain stream flowing through aspen and pine forest. Fifteen scattered sites line both sides of the creek, ranging from small single-tent spots to larger areas that can accommodate RVs up to 30 feet. The river provides excellent brook trout fishing and natural refrigeration for beverages. Sites feature established fire rings and level parking areas.
Forest Road 018 provides access from Highway 414, about 7 miles of good gravel that deteriorates in the final 2 miles. Creek crossings required for some sites but are typically passable by any high-clearance vehicle. Peak fishing season brings weekend crowds June through August. Snow closes access November through April.
