Antelope Flat Reservoir — BLM Dispersed Camping Area
Antelope Flat Reservoir sits in the high desert northeast of Prineville in BLM country, at around 4,000 feet. The flat ground around the reservoir’s western and northern shores offers open dispersed sites with room for big rigs and trailers. No developed facilities — you’re on your own for water, waste, and fire safety. Wind can really move through here, so stake everything down. Fire restrictions apply in summer; check with the Prineville BLM field office before you light up.
Access is via gravel and dirt roads off US-26 heading northeast — passable for high-clearance 2WD in dry conditions, but wet weather turns the approaches greasy. Best season is April through October. Cell signal is essentially nonexistent. Close enough to Prineville for a resupply loop if you’re running the Ochoco or John Day country trails.
High desert reservoir dispersed — no crowds, no services.
