Allegheny National Forest Hearts Content Dispersed Sites
This dispersed area surrounds the Hearts Content National Scenic Area, where towering old-growth trees create a cathedral atmosphere. Sites are scattered along forest service roads threading through second-growth timber, offering privacy among dense hardwood and conifer stands. Most spots accommodate single rigs with fire rings already established by previous campers. The nearby Hearts Content Trail provides access to some of the largest trees remaining in Pennsylvania.
Access roads are gravel forest service routes passable by any vehicle. The area gets busy during fall color season and hunting periods. Stream water is available from Hickory Creek, but requires treatment. Cell service is spotty to nonexistent in the hollows.
