Custom Links and POIs

Add your own reference material and map markers.

Trips can carry their own custom data on top of atlas entries: links (reference URLs) and POIs (points of interest on the map). Both live in the trip’s Links & POIs tab.

Custom links

Use cases: campsite reservation page, gear-to-buy list, an article about the region you’re visiting, a forum thread with current beta.

To add: in the Links section, type a label and a URL, click Add link. The label is optional — if you leave it blank, the hostname is used.

You can paste a URL without the https:// prefix; the system adds it. Only http and https URLs are accepted.

Up to 50 links per trip. Remove any with the × button.

Custom POIs

POIs are markers you add to the trip map for places that aren’t in the atlas: a specific gas station the crew should top off at, a buddy’s house you’re stopping by, a viewpoint not yet documented publicly.

Important: POIs are private to this trip only. They don’t go into the public atlas. (Note: if a POI happens to be a well-known public place, it may eventually appear in the atlas through other data sources — but your specific POI markup on this trip is yours.)

Adding a POI by clicking the map

Easiest way. Click the + POI button in the top-right corner of the trip map. The cursor changes to a crosshair. Click anywhere on the map to drop a pin. A small form pops up for:

  • Title
  • Icon — pin / gas / camp / food / lodging / water / viewpoint / caution
  • Note (optional)

Save. The pin sticks; the form closes.

Adding a POI by address

If you know the address but not the coordinates, use the manual form in the Links & POIs tab. Enter the address in the address field, leave latitude/longitude blank. The system geocodes the address (turns it into coordinates) and creates the POI at that location.

Adding a POI by exact coordinates

If you have specific lat/long, enter them directly. Coordinates win over address if you enter both. Useful for remote spots that aren’t on any address grid.

Removing a POI

Either click the marker on the map and use the Remove this POI button in the popup, or use the × in the POI list. Up to 50 POIs per trip.

Who can add

Trip owner, invited crew, admins. Anyone who can edit the trip can add or remove links and POIs.
