Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest — Bob Scott Campground

Bob Scott sits at roughly 6,800 feet in a pinyon-juniper belt just off US-50, about 8 miles east of Austin. It’s a straightforward USFS developed site with 10 individual sites, fire rings, and vault toilets. Nothing fancy, but it’s clean, shaded by scattered juniper, and quiet outside of summer holiday weekends. A reliable overnight before pushing south toward Kingston Canyon or west toward the Toiyabe Crest Trailhead.

Access is easy — pavement the whole way off US-50. Water is not available on-site, so tank up in Austin before you roll in. No hookups, no reservations. First come, first served. Season typically runs spring through late fall depending on snow at elevation. Cell signal is minimal at best.
