Sørvágur — Atlantic Airways Fuel and West Streymoy Island Staging Hub
Sørvágur is the largest town on Vágar and sits at the head of Sørvágurfjørður. It’s the practical base for the western Vágar loop — Sørvágsvatn cliff overlook, Gásadalur, and the Múlafossur waterfall are all within striking distance. There’s a Bonus supermarket for groceries, a fuel station, and accommodations. The N1 fuel station on the main road through town is reliable and well-stocked for a small Faroese outpost. The airport is four kilometres east so logistics here are cleaner than most island stops.
Vágar is connected to Streymoy via the Vágatunnilin undersea tunnel — there’s a toll. Road surfaces across Vágar are paved. Winter crossings between islands in high wind can be rough, but the town itself is accessible year-round. Stock up here before pushing to the dead-end roads on the island’s western tip.
Vágar's western anchor. Fuel, food, go.
