Teanaway Community Forest — Indian Camp Campground
Indian Camp sits inside the Teanaway Community Forest along the North Fork Teanaway River Road, a real gem for overlanders running the Teanaway ridge tracks. It’s a primitive campground — vault toilets, fire rings, river access, and that open ponderosa pine feel the Teanaway is known for. No fee, no reservations. Sites spread out along a gravel flat near the river, with enough room for rigs with trailers. Weekends in summer it gets some foot traffic but it’s rarely packed the way Cascade-side camps are. Fire restrictions follow DNR rules, so check before you burn.
Access via North Fork Teanaway Road is gravel but well-graded and manageable by most 2WD rigs with decent clearance. Road continues into higher country where things get progressively rougher — this camp is the last comfortable launch point before the real 4×4 terrain begins. Season is typically May through October; snowpack can close the upper roads well into June.
