Icicle Road — Rock Island Campground
Rock Island Campground sits along Icicle Creek Road about 8 miles west of Leavenworth, operated by the Wenatchee National Forest. The creek runs cold and clear alongside your site, the canyon walls close in above you, and you’ve got developed sites with tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. It fills fast on summer weekends — arrive Thursday or grab a reservation. Fall is the move: golden larches, thinner crowds, crisp nights. It’s a legitimate staging camp for Icicle Creek trails and the Quartz Creek Road runs to the west.
The road in is paved most of the way — easy access for any rig. Northwest Forest Pass required. Fires subject to seasonal restrictions; check the Wenatchee NF website before you go. This is one of the more civilized options in the corridor, but it earns its spot for position alone.
