Canyonlands National Park Island in the Sky Visitor Center

Essential stop for permits, maps, and current conditions before tackling White Rim or any backcountry adventure.

The Island in the Sky Visitor Center sits atop the mesa at the park’s most accessible entrance, offering expansive views across the Colorado River canyon system. Inside, rangers provide current road conditions, weather updates, and required permits for overnight camping or day-use reservations for popular 4WD routes. The center stocks detailed maps, water, and basic supplies, plus clean restrooms and reliable cell service.

Located at the end of the paved park road, about 40 minutes from Moab via UT-313. This is your mandatory stop for White Rim permits and the last reliable services before heading into the backcountry. Open year-round but hours vary seasonally.
