Klondike River Territorial Campground — Dawson City Corridor
The Klondike River Territorial Campground sits just outside Dawson City where the Klondike River meets the Yukon, making it the de facto base camp for overlanders staging for the Dempster Highway push north. Yukon Government manages it, pit toilets and fire rings are in place, and the river bottom cottonwoods give good shade in the midnight-sun summer evenings. It’s popular — Dawson is a magnet for Dempster-bound rigs — so arrive early or mid-week if you want a site without drama.
Dawson City itself is a full resupply: fuel, groceries, propane, and the last guaranteed mechanical help before Eagle Plains. From here you can walk or drive to the free Yukon River ferry crossing to reach the Dempster’s official start at the Top of the World Highway junction. Cell signal in town is workable; at the campground it drops to spotty.
Last real camp before the Dempster starts.
