Elaho River — Squamish Forest Service Road Bridge Viewpoint
The Elaho River confluence with the Squamish River is a landmark you’ll cross on the main Squamish River FSR heading north toward the Elaho Valley and the Howe Sound Crest backcountry. The bridge viewpoint sits above jade-green glacial water churning through a narrow canyon. It’s dramatic terrain — braided gravel bars, old-growth snags, and peaks starting to close in on both sides. This is your last real look at open sky before the valley narrows. Not a campsite, but a worthwhile stop to check road conditions, let the rig cool, and get your bearings before the upper valley push.
Road is logging active — watch for trucks, especially on weekdays. The FSR surface varies from gravel to rough dirt with washboard sections. High-clearance 2WD can usually make the lower valley; upper routes require 4WD.
