Lillooet — Golds Claim Recreation Site and Fraser River Access
Golds Claim Recreation Site is a BC Forest Service site on the east bank of the Fraser River a few kilometres north of Lillooet on Highway 99/12. It’s a well-known stopping point for rigs coming off the Noaxe Creek FSR, Potato Hills FSR, or Duffey Lake Road corridor before pushing north toward the Chilcotin. Flat gravel pads, fire rings, pit toilets, and direct river access make it a legitimate overnight rather than a desperation camp. It gets busy on summer long weekends — arrive before Friday noon if you want a riverside site. No fees, no reservation, 14-day stay limit.
Access is straightforward — signed off the highway. The river current is serious; don’t let kids or dogs wade deep. Cell service here is spotty at best despite being close to town. Confirm road conditions at the Lillooet info kiosk before heading back into the Bridge River country.
