Pemberton Meadows Road

The corrugated gravel starts smooth from Pemberton but turns technical once you pass the Lillooet River crossing at Mount Currie. This 40-kilometer route cuts deep into traditional Lil’wat territory, threading between glacial moraines toward One Mile Lake with Mount Meager’s volcanic bulk looming ahead. The road deteriorates past the 20-kilometer mark, demanding high clearance for creek crossings and loose rock sections that’ll test your line choice.

Moderate difficulty requiring stock 4WD with decent ground clearance — nothing extreme, but commitment increases with distance from cell service. Best tackled June through October when creek levels drop and washouts get repaired. No permits needed, but respect First Nations cultural sites. Pack extra fuel and water; nearest services are back in Pemberton. You’re rewarded with pristine alpine camping spots, glacier-fed swimming holes, and some of the most untouched Coast Mountain scenery accessible by wheels.
