A beautiful subalpine meadow at treeline offering scattered dispersed camping spots with incredible 360-degree mountain views. Sites are mostly level grass areas that can accommodate rigs up to medium size, though wind exposure is significant. The area sits right along the Alpine Loop and provides easy access to Engineer Pass, Cinnamon Pass, and other high-country trails. No facilities whatsoever — pack it all out.
Access via rough 4WD road from Ouray or Silverton. Open roughly July through September when snow clears. Can get crowded on weekends with OHV traffic. Weather changes fast at this elevation — be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms and cold nights even in summer.
