Sheyenne National Grassland Duck Creek Dispersed Area
Duck Creek offers scattered camping spots along a shallow seasonal drainage in the heart of Sheyenne grassland. Expect rolling prairie, distant horizons, and complete solitude most nights except during hunting season. Sites accommodate 2-3 rigs each with plenty of room to spread out. No amenities whatsoever — pack water and haul out trash.
Access via gravel township roads that can turn to gumbo after rain. Best avoided during wet periods unless you’ve got aggressive tread and recovery gear. Prime season runs May through September when the creek typically runs and wildflowers paint the grassland.
